On referral, schools should provide baseline assessment information to inform the teaching programme, and to ensure that the service contributes towards the continuing progress of the child/young person.  The team also undertakes a baseline assessment.  The service contributes to the provision of the school's recording of assessment information, including progress and attainment reporting.

The service supports schools with requests for statutory assessment of SEN, including the provision of educational advice, and contribute to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) reviews where appropriate.

The service also takes part in multi-agency assessment procedures as part of a broad assessment of need.
